Memorial Day weekend is approaching, and the Original Farmers Market is here to assist in a successful celebration. Come stop by to stock up on produce, enjoy cooked meals, and listen to live music!

Events
This Memorial Day weekend, head over to the Market Plaza to see performances by our armed forces to celebrate LA Fleet Week. On Saturday, May 24th, from 12-1pm, enjoy some classic hits and jazz music by the U.S. Navy Band Southwest “Harbor Side Brass”. Then on Sunday, May 25th, from 12-1pm, dance to traditional brass music and some renditions of popular hip hop and top 40 songs by the U.S. Navy Band Southwest “32nd Street Brass Band”. While you’re here for the music, don’t forget to check out our artisan grocery and specialty food merchants to prepare for your Memorial Day festivities.

At-Home Cooking
With phenomenal butchers and produce, the Market’s merchants can supply the perfect BBQ meal. Grab some marinated short ribs from Marconda’s Meats, or some delicious chicken kabobs from Farmers Market Poultry. Pair any of these with a flavorful hot sauce or seasoning from Light My Fire to surely elevate your meal. Additionally, Huntington Meats has officially kicked off grilling season with their "Thrill of the Grill” and are selling charcoal, wood chips, lighter fluid, and seasonings along with their meats, so that you can get all your shopping done at Market. Also, explore the savory sides and dips from the Mediterranean Market and exquisite wines and charcuterie from Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market. If you’re in search of a good recipe, explore the Farmers Market Cookbook for some options that will not disappoint! To highlight your cooking and boost your presentation, Williams Sonoma and Maison by Monsieur Marcel have all the décor and dishware you could ever need.

Market Dining
Don’t feel like cooking? No worries! All of our merchants are open on Memorial Day from 9am-9pm and have plenty of options no matter what you are craving. For a classic American dish, Magee’s Kitchen has classic sandwiches and coleslaw or head over to Phil’s Deli & Grill or Charlie’s Coffee Shop for some mouthwatering burgers and hot dogs. In the mood for some Mexican food? Check out the amazing birria quesa-tacos from El Granjero Cantina and the popular steak asada burrito from Trejo’s Tacos. Additionally, the Market’s newly opened Polish restaurant, Stara Pierogi and Sausage, offers some outstanding grilled sausages and desserts.

Relax and Enjoy
Be sure to soak up the warm California sun and cool off with a cool treat from Bennett’s Ice Cream or some handcrafted Italian ices from Local Ice. Some tasty citrus and berries from Farm Boy Produce and Farm Fresh Produce are guaranteed to complete your perfect spring day. Don’t forget to protect your skin and grab some SPF from Kiehl’s. Finally, Du-par’s pie of the month for May, a yummy ambrosia pie, can be a sweet and decadent end to your day of fun.
